The Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments the Pennsylvania Department of Education uses to assess proficiency in the subject areas of Algebra I, Literature, and Biology.

Students graduating in 2020 and beyond are required to pass Keystone Exams in Algebra, Biology and Literature in order to graduate.  While students graduating prior to the 2020 school year are no longer required to demonstrate proficiency on the exams in order to meet state graduation requirements, participation in the state assessments remains a federal requirement.

The performance level demonstrated in each of the Keystone Exams is included on student transcripts.  The information presented on each transcript is the highest performance level demonstrated at the time the transcript is produced.
