Transportation FAQ

When I register my child at school, do I need to contact the transportation office to set up busing?

No.  If your student attends one of our four public schools (Penn London Elementary, Avon Grove Intermediate School, Fred S. Engle Middle School, and Avon Grove High School), transportation will be set up and notification sent to the parent/guardian.

My child needs to be picked up and dropped off at a daycare facility. Will there be busing available?

Transportation is available subject to certain rules and the availability of a scheduled bus route. When transportation services to a care center are terminated at the request of the parent or guardian, transportation to a location other than the permanent residence will be reinstated only on a space available basis as determined by the Avon Grove Transportation Department. Request for pickup and drop off at a stop other than the home must be submitted by July 15th for the upcoming school year. Permission for student pickup and/or drop off at a daycare/babysitter stop will be contingent upon the bus having room for these students and that there is a scheduled bus stop. An exception to the bus stop requirement may be made for the mid-day school run, which may permit the addition of a stop(s) on an established bus route. No students will be transported to a daycare facility and/or babysitter outside the attendance boundaries of the Avon Grove School District. Please see Board Policy #810 and administrative rule for additional information on daycare.

How do I request transportation to/from a daycare facility and/or babysitter?

Parents/guardians must complete a Child Care Transportation Request Form, available at the school office or online.  NOTE:  A new Child Care Transportation Request Form must be submitted each school year.

Do you provide transportation to non-public and charter schools?

Yes, transportation for approved non-public and charter schools is provided, if the distance to the school does not exceed 10 miles beyond district boundaries. You may contact the Avon Grove Transportation Department (610-869-2441 ext. 50700) to determine if a school is within the established maximum distance for transportation.

How do I request transportation for my child to a non-public or charter school?

A Student Transportation Registration Form should be completed by a parent/guardian, and returned to the school of attendance. The school of attendance will forward this form to the Avon Grove Transportation Department to request transportation to be set up. Once transportation is arranged, the student's school will be notified, and that school will notify the parent/guardian of the transportation arrangements.

What do I do if my child attends a non-public school and has a need for daycare?

Daycare is available subject to certain rules and the availability of a scheduled bus route. Please see Board Policy #810 and administrative rule for additional information on daycare. You must submit a request in writing to the school your child attends. The school will then forward the request to the Avon Grove School District Transportation Office.

My family moved during the school year. Who do I contact with the new information?

Parents/guardians of students attending one of our public schools (Penn London Elementary, Avon Grove Intermediate School, Fred S. Engle Middle School, and Avon Grove High School) should contact the school of attendance.

Parents/guardians of students attending non-public and/or charter schools must notify their respective school of address changes. The parent/guardian will complete a change of address form and that school will verify the change, and forward the address change form to the Avon Grove School District Transportation Department.
