General Description

Avon Grove High School is located in a rural-suburban setting 34 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and 18 miles northwest of Wilmington, Delaware. The area is populated by families employed in a wide range of service, trade, technical and professional occupations. Avon Grove High School is a public high school accredited by Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Avon Grove High School offers Advanced Placement, honors, academic and general level courses, as well as many elective courses. In order to receive an Avon Grove diploma, students are required to complete 4 credits of English; 4 credits Mathematics; 3 credits of Social Studies, and Science; 2 credits of Physical Education; .5 credits of Health; 8.5 credits of career choices/enrichment electives and a Graduation Project. In addition, graduates must demonstrate proficiency in Reading, Biology and Math on the Keystone Exams. The College Board named Avon Grove High School to its AP® Honor Roll in 2010, 2011, and 2013 for increasing access to Advanced Placement (AP) coursework while still maintaining a high percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. In addition, Avon Grove High School is ranked 65th in Pennsylvania and 1888th out of more than 24,000 High Schools in the United States by US News and World Report.
