Located at the intersection of Route 896 and Route 796 across from the new Avon Grove Intermediate School, Penn London's central core houses administrative offices, two instructional support teachers, two school nurses, a school psychologist, the Title I Coordinator, a small theatre, a library, individual art and music rooms, a gymnasium, a computer lab and a cafeteria.

The central core is flanked on either side by thirty-three classrooms arranged in two stories with a maximum capacity of 900. In 2001, we added a Kindergarten Center, which presently hosts thirteen sessions in the A.M. and P.M., serving 275 children.

The Penn London Elementary School exists to create and implement experiences for children that will prepare them to interact and function confidently and responsibly in their world. The elementary schools' vision is to embrace a holistic approach in all areas of development, in order to create an environment, in which all children achieve to their potential. During their primary school experience, the students are placed in a family structure for grades one and two, in order to provide them with familiar faces and spaces. The children attending kindergarten are also placed on families, and they will continue with those families when they enter grade one.

The primary beliefs of the Penn London School staff are that every child deserves excellence; everyone has the potential to be a successful learner, and it is the school's responsibility to discover what the learners already know and help them make connections with what we believe they need to know. The school must provide a literacy-enriched environment where learners have the opportunity to develop and use language and literacy routines associated with authentic, everyday activities.

It is essential to maintain open lines of communication among school, family, and community. Open communication, mutual respect, and active involvement by school, family, and community will enhance a child's school experiences and help to establish the environment needed for a child to become a more successful learner. Parents are an integral part of their children's school experience, and we have had an active PTA that has worked to extend and support the educational programs at Penn London.
