3-27-09 April 23 is designated as "Take Your Daughters/Sons to Work Day." If you plan to take your child to work with you that day, please follow these guidelines: You must send a note a prior to April 23 in order for that day to be considered a field trip and not an absence. If a note is received after the fact, the day counts as an absence, but it is considered excused.

3-20-09 Any time a student needs to do something other than their normal dismissal routine it is the parents' responsibility to send a note. This includes all after school activities, as well as bus pass requests. Click here for more details in the PLE Voice (pdf).

3-27-09 Congratulations to Veronique Taylor as the Avon Grove School District's Citadel Heart of Learning Award finalist. We wish her good luck as she represents the best in us all!

3-27-09 Parents, please check the Lost & Found, located outside the Nurses' Office, for items your child may have lost this year. There will also be a table of donated clothing located outside of the gym. Please feel free to look through them and take any that your child can use.

3-20-09 The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to PLE! The Book Fair will be running from March 31-April 3. Details and times will be coming home soon. Click here for more details in the PLE Voice (pdf).

3-20-09 Orders for discount tickets to Hershey Park are due Monday, March 23rd. Checks should be made payable to PLE PTA and include a self-addressed stamped envelope as tickets will be mailed home. Also, please make arrangements to pick up your Joe Corbi orders on Thursday, March 26, from 4:00-6:30 in PLE's front lobby. The food items are perishable and need to be refrigerated or frozen. Orders not picked up may be donated to a local food bank. Thank you to everyone that was able to support our Joe Corbi fundraiser. It was a great success!

3-5-09 THE BIG PIG GIG was a huge success! There have been so many clever projects submitted! If you are in the school, take a few minutes to see the pigs decorating our hallways. The pigs will displayed throughout the building during parent/teacher conferences.

2-20-09 On Monday, March 2nd, Penn London will celebrate the anniversary of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Special activities will be taking place in each family during the day. Additionally, students are invited to dress in red, white and black to celebrate the life and work of this well-loved children's author.

2-26-09 PLE will celebrate Music in Our Schools month during the month of March. One of our parents, a visiting artist, Tony Cecere, will be playing and teaching our students on March 16.

2-26-09 Our administration, faculty, and staff would like to extend many thanks to all of our volunteers for your kindness at the "Warm Your Hearts Luncheon." The lunch was delicious!

The Joe Corbi Family Favorites Fundraiser has begun. You should have received a brochure in your child's backpack. All orders are due March 6th. For more information, please read the PLE Voice.

2-26-09 An ADHD & Anger Management workshop will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Avon Grove Intermediate School Audion from 7:00-8:00pm with a Question and Answer Session to follow. Dr. Cris Chambers, the Supervisor of Assessment and Clinical Services at the Chester County Intermediate Unit, will be the presenter.

2-5-09You will notice that on the February menu peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are offered as a lunch choice. This is in error. Our cafeteria will not serve peanut butter and jelly until further notice. Please note that the peanut butter in our schools is NOT CONTAMINATED, and this is being done merely as a precaution. Students may choose to order a cheese sandwich if they do not like the selections on the menu. Jelly sandwiches will not be offered, as there is no nutritional value in jelly.

Kindergarten Open Registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be held March 30-April 3. Please call the school office (610-869-9803) after February 6 to request a registration packet which will include registration requirements as well as dates and times. Eligibility as per Avon Grove School District Board Policy No. 201, Title 22, Sec. 11.14 states "A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if s/he has attained the age of five (5) years on or before September 8th of each school term.

The District's 2008-2009 wall calendars are being sent home with the youngest child/only child in each family. Please note that the calendars do not contain dates for the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) testing. The 2008-2009 PSSA testing dates, which were finalized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) on August 28, are posted online for your reference. Please add these dates to the calendar.
