Federal Grants

Title I

Title I is a federally funded program. It originated in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The Avon Grove School District annually submits an application to receive Title I funds. These supplemental funds support students who require additional Literacy support at Penn London Elementary School through MTSS.

The Avon Grove School District’s Title I program encourages and invites parents to be actively involved in their child’s education. The Title I program works with parents throughout the school year in a variety of ways. A Back to School night is hosted at the beginning of each year for the parents of Title I students. Throughout the year, Title I parents and students are invited to Title I events where reading strategies are shared with parents and practiced by students. The Title I Parent Advisory Council updates the Title I Parent Involvement Plan annually. This plan, as well as our Home/School Pledge, shares our commitment to fostering a strong home and school connection.

Title I Parent Resources include newsletters and a Resource Center. Read aloud books, leveled texts and games are available for home use. These resources are available during the summer months through the main office of Penn London Elementary School.

The Board welcomes inquiries, suggestions, and constructive criticism regarding the District’s programs, personnel, operations and facilities. Any parent/guardian,student, resident or community group shall have the right to present a request, suggestion or complaint. The board intends to provide a fair and impartial method for seeking appropriate resolution.
