to collaborate on projects that both enhance learning and make a difference
in the world.
We have a subscription for any teacher at Avon
Grove High School to participate in iEarn if you are interested.
Please email Joyce Perry at perry@avongrove.org for more information.

Vignette from Melanie Lenno,
High School Spanish Teacher:
Melanie Lenno first learned about iEARN from a
history teacher in Delaware that had her students interacting with
students from the Middle East to better understand each others'
cultures.
According to Melanie: "The
program is great for all subject areas. There are numerous
projects and lesson plans already created for a variety of topics.
I'm planning on having my Spanish III classes communicate with classes
from Argentina for a project titled "One day in the life/Un
dia en
la vida" during our unit on Argentina. Students will be able
to share in Spanish what daily life is like with students from Argentina. In
an online forum they will be able to comment on each other and learn
about the culture differences in daily life."
She
will also be doing a project entitled "mi heroe" in which her students
will read about Hispanic heroes of Spanish-speaking students from
all over the globe. Then they will create a class webpage to
display descriptions of our own heroes in Spanish.
