Free and Reduced Price School Meals Information

The Avon Grove School District serves breakfast and lunch each school day. Students may purchase lunch for $1.40 at the elementary school and intermediate school, $1.50 at the middle school and $2.00 at the high school. Breakfast sells for $1.00 at the elementary and intermediate school and $1.10 at the middle and high schools.

Reduced price for lunch is $.40 and breakfast is $.30.

Students may also qualify for free meals or reduced price meals. To receive free or reduced price meals for your children, you must complete an application and return it to the school. Use one application for all students in your household. An incomplete application cannot be processed.

With the reauthorization of the National School Lunch Program, children enrolled in the Migrant Education Program are eligible to receive free school breakfast and lunch. You do not need to complete an application.

Students receiving Food Stamps or TANF Cash Assistance and most foster children can qualify for free meals regardless of the household income. Please complete the application with the appropriate information including a current Food Stamp or TANF case number and the signature of an adult household member.

Students can qualify for free or reduced price meals if the household income is within the limits of the Federal Income Guidelines (these guidelines are listed on the application). The application must include all student names, the names of all household members, the amount of income each household member received in the prior month and the income source. All applications must include the signature of an adult household member along with that adult’s social security number.

You may be asked to verify information provided on the application.

Reporting Changes

If your children receive free or reduced price meals because of your income, you must tell the school if your household size decreases or your household income increases by more than $50 per month or $600 per year. If your children receive free meals because they receive Food Stamp or TANF assistance, you must notify the school if these benefits are discontinued. You may at that time complete an application providing household income information.

Reapplication

You may apply for free or reduced price school meals anytime during the school year. If you are not presently eligible but have a change during this school year such as a decrease in household income, an increase in household size or a change in employment status you may complete an application at that time. In addition, if you qualify for Food Stamps or TANF benefits during this school year, you may apply for free or reduced price meals at that time.

Confidentiality

We will use the information on the application to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced price meals, and for the administration and enforcement of the lunch and breakfast programs. We MAY share your eligibility information with education, health and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund or determine benefits for their programs.
