Make Good Nutrition a Life Long Mission
The Avon Grove School District Food Service Department will provide all students with the fuel their minds and bodies need in order to learn, by preparing and serving nutritious meals in accordance with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) evolved from efforts to assist children in low-income households and was established under the National School Lunch Act signed by President Harry Truman in 1946. The program is monitored by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Department of Education and all menus must meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
The NSLP is designed to provide students with approximately one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances. Menus are planned to limit calories from fat to less than 30% and less than 10% calories from saturated fat. A variety of grains, vegetables and fruits are available daily.
Each lunch menu consists of at least 5 food items from the 4 food components:
Meat/meat alternative
Grains/Breads
2 servings of vegetables/fruits
Milk
Students must choose at least 3 of these components. They may choose 4 or 5 of these components. However, we encourage all students to choose all offered items.
Students must take full servings of the food items selected to count as a component.
All students are offered at least 2 entrée choices at each school. A variety of fruits and vegetables are offered as well; students may choose 2 with each meal. Milk, flavored, skim and low fat varieties are available everyday. Please review school menus for more information regarding specific offerings.

Avon Grove School District Introduces MealpayPlus
The Food Service Department of Avon Grove School
District announces the implementation of MealpayPlus. This system
offers you the ability to view your child’s account balance
and a 30 day purchase history on line through the MealpayPlus.com
website.
Additionally, you may choose to make prepayments to your child’s
account using a check or credit card. You no longer have to worry
about forgetting to give your child lunch money or worry about
them losing it! Money deposited using MealpayPlus.com will usually
arrive at the school site within a matter of hours. For this added
benefit, a convenience fee will be added to the total payment amount
of your transaction. This fee is solely a processing fee by MealpayPlus
and is not received by the Avon Grove School District.
It is fast, secure and convenient! Simply log onto www.mealpayplus.com and
register your child(ren) using their district student ID number.
For your convenience we have also placed a link on our website,
www.avongrove.org/district/foodservice.html, that will direct you
to MealpayPlus. When registering you may also elect to receive
balance reminders via email or set an auto prepayment using a credit
card.
If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact
the food service office at (484) 667-4445. If you have any questions
regarding payment processing, you may contact Mealpay at (800)
859-6508 between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm EST.
Thank you for the privilege of serving your children and we look
forward to the successful launch of MealpayPlus.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth H. Julian
