The objectives of the Pennsylvania First Signs program are to:

1. Increase knowledge of early warning signs among pediatric practitioners in Pennsylvania to raise their level of awareness
2. Improve frequency and quality of screening young children
3. Facilitate timely referral of children in Pennsylvania to local Early Intervention programs
4. Lower the age at which children are identified with autism and other developmental disorders in Pennsylvania

ASCEND is opening a chapter in Southern Chester County. This support group provides support & information to parents and caregivers of children with Aspergers and other areas of the Autism Spectrum. They will have their first meeting Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 7 PM. The meetings will be held at Avon Grove Charter School. All are welcome! Ascend will meet the third Tuesday every other month. The next meeting is scheduled for May 16, 2006.
