Avon Grove High School

Kim Belknap has been an elementary school librarian for thirty years, all of her career spent in the Avon Grove School District.  She has taught at Penn London Elementary since it was built, assisting in its design and choosing all of its resources.

Kim graduated from Kutztown State College (now Kutztown University) with a library science major, earning a B. S. in Elementary Education.  While at Kutztown, she became a member of the Honor Society in Education, Kappa Delta Pi.  Her Master’s degree in Elementary Education was earned at West Chester University.  Kim has been listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and Who’s Who in American Education.

Kim’s favorite hobbies are reading, flower gardening, and caring for her two Pomeranians, Prince and Misty.

Debbie Parker has been a Teacher-Librarian for 17 years, all in the Avon Grove School District. She graduated (a long time ago!) with a B.S. in History from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA. After her children started school, she returned to college (Drexel University) to earn an M.S. in Library Science. She is a member of Beta Phi Mu International Honor Society, and the mother of two grown boys and grandmother of four.

Katie Arnold has been a high school English teacher, a seventh and ninth grade composition teacher and a middle school librarian since 2000. She graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, OH, with a BA in English and Speech Communication. After teaching high school English in Ohio for four years, she returned to school at Clarion University of Pennsylvania for her MS in Library Science.

Mr. Foraker attended the University of Delaware where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and certification as a Library Media Specialist.  Mr. Foraker began his teaching career as a social studies teachers.  His years as a teacher include high school, middle and elementary school experiences.  Other positions held are Instructional Coach and Teacher in Residence at the Delaware Department of Education.  At the Department of Education Mr. Foraker co-managed a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to transform Libraries into Library Media Centers using a collaborative approach with teachers.  He liked this model so much that he applied and was successful in becoming the Library Media Specialist at Bayard Intermediate School.  Before coming to Avon Grove Intermediate School, Mr. Foraker was Assistant Director for Special Needs Students at the Education Resource Center at the University of Delaware.  The Education Resource Center is a K-12 Library with student and teacher resources open to the public.
