Transportation Safety
Safety is the primary concern of the District’s Transportation
Department. All school buses used in the transportation of school children
conform to the most rigid safety specifications prescribed for the
school bus industry.
Every year each school bus used in transporting school
students is subject to two official state inspections. In addition,
the Pennsylvania State Police conduct one scheduled inspection of all
buses each year and periodically perform random inspections.
The Transportation
Department maintains detailed records including daily miles driven and
number of student on each bus. The Pennsylvania Department of Education
uses this information to calculate a state subsidy for transportation
services.
