Transportation Frequently Asked Questions
When I register my child at school, do I need to contact the transportation office to set up busing? No, if the school you attend is one of our four public schools. (Penn London Elementary, Avon Grove Intermediate School, Fred. S. Engle Middle School, Avon Grove High School) My child needs to be picked up and dropped off at a daycare facility. Will there be busing available? Transportation is available subject to certain rules and the availability of a scheduled bus route. When pickup and/or drop off has been arranged for a daycare/babysitter’s stop, no changes will be allowed except back to the home stop, unless the caregiver goes out of business. Request for pickup and drop off at other than the home stop must be submitted by June 30 th for the upcoming school year. Permission for the student pickup and/or drop off at daycare/babysitter’s stop will be contingent upon the bus having room for these students and that there is a scheduled bus stop. An exception to the bus stop requirement may be made for the midday school run which may permit adding additional stops on established bus route. No students will be transported to daycare facilities and/or babysitters outside the attendance boundaries of the Avon Grove School District. Please see Board Policy #810 and administrative rule for additional information on daycare. How do I request transportation to/from a daycare facility and/or babysitter? Parents need to fill out a daycare provider form available at the school office. A new form needs to be completed every year. Do you provide transportation to non-public and charter schools? Yes, transportation for approved non-public and charter schools is provided so long as the distance is not more than 10 miles beyond the district boundaries. You may contact the transportation department (610-869-2441 ext. 1013) to determine if the school is within the distance for transportation. How do I establish transportation for my child to a non-public or charter school? You should complete a Student Transportation Registration form and return it to the school you attend. The school you are attending should forward the form to Avon Grove’s Transportation Department to setup transportation. Once transportation is arranged, the child’s school will be notified. The school will notify parents of the transportation arrangements. What do I do if my child attends a non-public school and has a need for daycare? Daycare is available subject to certain rules and the availability of a scheduled bus route. Please see Board Policy #810 and administrative rule for additional information on daycare. You must submit a request in writing to the school your child attends which the school should forward to Avon Grove School District’s Transportation Office. My family moved during the school year. Who do I contact with the new information? Parents of students attending one of our public schools (Penn London Elementary, Avon Grove Intermediate School, Fred S. Engle Middle School, Avon Grove High School) should contact the school of attendance. Parents of students attending non-public and/or charter schools need to notify their respective school. The school will have you complete a change of address form and they will submit the form to the Avon Grove School District Transportation Department. If I have a complaint about a bus driver, whom do I call? Contact the transportation office at (610) 869-2441 or email Melissa Hendrickson. If I have a complaint about a bus stop, whom do I call? You would need to contact the transportation department. If you are requesting a change to an existing bus stop, the request must be made in writing. |
