Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

March 16, 2011 Thursday, April 28, is designated as Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day all across the United States. If you plan to take your child to work with you that day, you must send a note in prior to April 28 in order for the day to be considered a field trip and not an absence. If a note is received after the day, it will be counted as a day absent, but excused. We cannot accept emails to the teacher or faxed notes. A note with a parent signature is required. April 28 is the official, nationally recognized Kids to Work Day. If you or your company chooses to have this event on a different date, it will be an excused absence for your child.

The cost is $16 if you order before March 18. Checks should be written to AGSD or Avon Grove School District.

For Your Information

March 16, 2011 Students are not permitted to bring toys, hand-held games, trading cards, iPods, etc. to school. If students bring these items to school we cannot be responsible for loss or damage, and if they are taken from them by a teacher/aide it will be the parent’s responsibility to come to school to pick up the item. The school provides games and playground equipment for the students. Thank you for your cooperation.

Snack and Lunch Accounts

March 3, 2011 We want to remind all parents to be aware of the amount of money you keep in your child’s lunch account. More importantly, make sure your expectations for snacks are understood by your child. Our general rule in the cafeteria is that children in grades 4 and 5 can purchase two snacks and a drink while 3rd graders can purchase one snack and a drink. We see students purchasing snacks and sometimes not eating their regular lunch and simply eating the snacks. From a nutritional perspective we ask you to discuss this with your child and help them develop the responsibility you wish on this matter. If you want to access your child’s balance or place any kind of restrictions on that account please view the information for this on the website. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Spring Pictures

March 3, 2011 Spring picture packages have arrived and have been given to the students to take home. If you wish to purchase any or all of the photographs, please send in your payment to the school office. You may return the whole package to the school if you choose not to purchase it, or you may keep what you like and return the remaining pictures along with your payment. Checks should be written to “Lifetouch” and sent in to school by March 21 if possible, and no later than April 6.
