From the Nurses' Office: 6th Grade Reminder
January 31, 2011 Pennsylvania
school health law requires a sixth grade physical examination that includes

an appointment and send in a copy of the report of the physical examination

Pennsylvania school health law has also mandated new immunization requirements
for students entering the 7th grade in 2011/2012. Your child may need

National School Counseling Week
January 31, 2011 National
School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association
(ASCA,) will be celebrated from February 7-11 to highlight the unique
contribution of professional school counselors within the U.S. school
systems, and how students benefit as a result of what school counselors
bring to the school setting. School counselors can have a tremendous impact
in helping students achieve school and personal success and plan for a
career.
We are fortunate to have a Master’s-level counselor for every schoolhouse
at AGIS. Our counselors are Mrs. Kristen Brown in Purple, Ms. Deborah
Burns in Orange, Mrs. Lori Travers in Red, and Ms. Susan Gill in Blue.
These professionals implement a comprehensive school counseling program
which includes individual and group counseling, guidance lessons in each
classroom, coordinating Career Day, the School Theme, the Thoughts for
the Day, the Ambassador and Spirit Committee programs, the second grade
visit, and more. They also consult with other community agencies, therapists,
and parents on behalf of our students to insure that they are getting
the support that they need to continue to grow socially, emotionally,
and academically. Comprehensive school counseling programs help to increase
student achievement and provide a much-needed resource for students, parents,
teachers, and administrators.
