Summer Office Hours

June 17, 2010 All schools in the Avon Grove School District and the District Administrative building will be open Monday through Thursday, June 21-August 13, from 7:00 AM-4:30 PM. The buildings will be closed on Fridays this summer.

New Immunization Requirements

June 17, 2010 The state of Pennsylvania’s new immunization requirements beginning with the 2011-2012 school year are as follows:
ALL STUDENTS IN GRADES K THROUGH 12
4 doses of tetanus (1 dose on or after the 4th birthday)
4 doses of diphtheria (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
3 doses of polio
2 doses of measles
2 doses of mumps
1 dose of rubella (German measles)
3 doses of Hepatitis B
2 doses of varicella vaccine or history of chicken pox disease

STUDENTS ENTERING 7TH GRADE IN 2011-2012
1 dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, accelular pertussis) if 5 years have elapsed since last tetanus immunization
1 dose of MCV (meningococcal conjugate vaccine)

Calling All 6th Grade Students

June 17, 2010 The Jennersville YMCA is offering a free membership to seventh grade students throughout Chester County. Bring your school ID, a report card, and a parent or guardian with you to the YMCA. Once your required paperwork is complete you can begin using your membership right away. More information on this 7th grade initiative is available on the YMCA website.

Important- Last Day of School: June 18 (due to 5 snow days this winter)

June 3, 2010 There will be an early dismissal on June 18. Students will be picked up at their regular pick up time and AGIS dismissal will begin at 11:45 a.m. There will be no breakfast or lunch available on the last day of school. Report cards will be sent home with all students except for those who owe cafeteria money, library books, or classroom materials. No report cards will be sent home before the last day of school.

Los estudiantes se despedirán temprano el 18 de junio. Los buses recogerán a los estudiantes al tiempo regular por la mañana y se saldrán de AGIS a las 11:45 A.M. Los informes de progreso escolar serán enviados a casa con los estudiantes excepto para ellos que deban dinero a la cafetería, libros de la biblioteca, o materiales de los salones de clase. End of the Year Reminders

•Pick up medication or send in permission slip.

•Send in 10/11 transportation request.
•Return 10/11 survey.
•Return school property (classroom or library books, school materials, etc.)

First Day of School 2010-11

June 3, 2010 Our first day of school after our summer break will be Monday, August 30, 2010. It will be a full day of school and lunches will be served.
El primer dia de la escuela despues de las vacaciones de verano, sera el lunes, 30 de agosto. Sera un dia escolar entero y se serviran los almuerzos.

Yearbooks 2009-10

June 3, 2010 Yearbooks will be distributed to those who pre-ordered on Monday, June 14! Extra yearbooks may be purchased in the Main Office on Wednesday, June 16, from 8:10 a.m. until they run out. The yearbook price is $15. Cash or checks will be accepted. Please make your check payable to
“AG School District.”

Report Cards

June 3, 2010 No report cards will be given out in advance. Students who are absent on the last day, and those who have not resolved their debts with AGIS, will need to return to the school office during the summer to pick up their report cards. Reminders will be given to all students who have bills to pay or property to return.

Last Day Bus Passes

June 3, 2010 If your student will need a bus pass for the last day of school, Friday, June 18, please help us by sending in your written request early with the clear notation that it is for the last day of school. Don’t forget that busses 2, 16, and 63 are full and no passes can be written for them. Thank you for your cooperation.

From the Nurse's Office

June 3, 2010 Medication: Parents/guardians must have a signed consent form on file with the school nurses in order for any leftover medication to be sent home with students at the end of the school year. Parents/guardians may also pick up their children's medication in the school nurse’s office at the end of the school year. Any medication not sent home with a student or picked up by a parent/guardian will be destroyed.
Please also note that a NEW written health care provider's order must accompany all medication that a parent/guardian is requesting the school nurse administer to his/her child next year.
Sixth Grade Physicals: If your child obtains a 6th grade physical and immunizations during the summer, please fax the report to the Middle School (NOT the Intermediate School) to the attention of Jane Yerkes, RN, School Nurse. The fax number is 610-869-0827. .
Seventh Grade Sports Physicals: If your 6th grader is planning to play a sport at the Middle School next year, he/she must have a sports physical done after June 1st. Sports physical packets are available online via the school district website, and will also be available in the AGIS main office and the school nurses' office next week.
Dental Exams: Dental exams are required for students in 4th and 7th grade. Please fax the report of any dental exam done over the summer to our school dental hygienist, Kathleen D'Antonio, RDH.
Fourth grade dental exams should be faxed to AGIS at 484-667-4428.
Seventh grade dental exams should be faxed to the Middle School at 610-869-0827.

Art Blog

June 3, 2010 Need something to do this summer? Visit an art museum or gallery! We have many wonderful museums and galleries nearby. After you visit, write about it on the Art Blog! It's as easy as 1, 2, 3. 1) Email Mrs. Hallman for a username and password, 2) Use the username and password she gives you to login, write about your experience, and even include videos or pictures, 3) Submit it. Mrs. Hallman will approve and post it for everyone to read and enjoy. Check the art website for ideas and information.
