Placement for 2010-11 School Year

May 6, 2010 Student placement for the 10/11 school year will be determined using the following criteria:
  • Brothers & sisters are placed in the same schoolhouse.
  • Students are equally mixed by gender, race, & ability.
  • Each class receives a heterogeneous mix of instructional levels.
  • Students are placed so that their instructional needs may be met.
  • Placements take into consideration the social & emotional needs of each student.
The principals, along with grade level teachers & counselors, participate in this process.
Should you feel the need to communicate specific insights to the AGIS administration and next year’s teacher, please put these thoughts in writing. These insights can refer to a program, instructional grouping, organizational pattern, learning style, or social & emotional needs. Personal requests for specific teachers will not be honored.
Address your letter to the principals and return it right away to AGIS. The deadline is Friday, May 14.
Students will receive notification of their 10/11 classroom placement in mid-August via mail.

Transportation Requests for Next Year

May 6, 2010 Planning bus routes for the 2010-2011 school year is underway. All students will be assigned to their home bus stop for the coming school year, and current day care arrangements will be deleted. A new transportation request form for alternate arrangements must be submitted every school year.
If your child will be regularly using a bus stop different from your home bus stop next year, even if it is the same arrangement as this year, you must put it in writing. It is necessary to have the name, specific address, and telephone number of your day care provider, as well as a clear explanation of the request, especially if there will be day variants. The same is true for students whose parents reside in separate homes. The second parent’s address and an explanation of the transportation arrangements must be submitted each school year.
Transportation Request Forms are available HERE and in the office at your request.
