Chester County Health Dept. Seasonal Flu Shot Clinic Scheduled Dec. 9 @ AGHS

November 20, 2009 The Seasonal Flu Vaccine will be provided by the Health Department on December 9, 2009 from 3pm-6pm in the High School Cafeteria. Student permission slips can be picked up prior to that date in the school nurses’ office of each AGSD building. The cost for adults will be $20.00 and children will be free.

Early Dismissal and Closing Schedule

November 19, 2009 All Avon Grove schools will dismiss early and teachers will have conferences with parents Friday through Wednesday, November 20-25. AGIS students will be dismissed at 1:10 PM. Breakfasts and lunches will be served on an earlier schedule.
Please plan to arrive in enough time to get to your child’s room before your scheduled conference time. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call the school or notify the teacher right away.
School will be closed November 27 and 28. Classes will resume on Monday, November 30.

Book Fair

November 19, 2009 Our PTA Fall Scholastic Book Fair is now open in the AGIS audion until November 24. Your child will visit the Book Fair during class time. You may send in the completed Book Fair order form to help your child find the best books.
Your family can shop together during school conference hours on Friday, November 20, from 1:30-3:30, Monday, November 23, from 5:00-8:30, and Tuesday, November 24, from 4:30-8:00. We also invite you to help build our classroom libraries by purchasing and donating books on the Classroom Wish Lists.

Country Christmas- December 5, 9:00-2:00

November 19, 2009 Come one & all to our 18th annual Country Christmas at AGIS.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the PTA sponsored children’s programs at both AGIS and PLE. The event features over 110 crafters, family entertainment,
food service, raffles, and our very popular classroom baskets.

Date Change! Breakfast with Santa, December 19

November 19, 2009 The Avon Grove High School Band invites you to bring your little ones to enjoy Breakfast with Santa Claus on Saturday morning, December 19. The breakfast will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in the High School cafeteria, and will feature AG Band Students playing holiday music along with AG Choir Students singing Christmas carols. Breakfast includes pancakes, Hatfield breakfast sausages, orange or apple juice, and a hot beverage of your choice (Starbucks coffee, cocoa, or tea).
Admission is $5 per person. Included in this price will be face painting/hand stamps for the children, a holiday treat bag, a bag of “Magic Reindeer Food,” and an opportunity for the children to tell Santa their holiday wishes. Children may also have their picture taken with Santa for a small fee.
Families with children of all ages are welcome. All proceeds to benefit families in need in the Avon Grove community.
Please note that this is a date change from the District wall calendar.

Holiday Basket Program

November 19, 2009 AGIS is assisting the Knights of Columbus in their collection of food and personal care items for the annual Avon Grove Holiday Basket Program. The organization hopes to provide holiday baskets to at least three hundred families in need in our community.
The collection of non-perishable canned or boxed food items and personal care items such as toothpaste and toothbrushes will begin on Monday, November 30, and continue until Tuesday, December 15. Please have your child bring all donated items to the school and place them in the collection boxes provided in the lobby.

PTA Meeting Change

November 5, 2009 The AGIS PTA meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, has changed from an Executive Board Meeting to a General Membership Meeting. It will begin at 1:15 in the teachers’ lounge. We hope to see you there!

Public Flu Shot Program CANCELLED

November 2, 2009 The Chester County Health Department's Seasonal Flu Shot Clinic scheduled for Nov. 4 @ AGHS has been cancelled due to a shortage of vaccine supply.
