At varying times throughout the first two weeks of May, all AGIS students will participate in a computerized assessment that will provide the school with valuable information regarding your child’s academic progress throughout the school year. Each student will take both a reading and a math test that generally lasts about 40 minutes each session. While these assessments provide school personnel with specific areas of academic strengths and weaknesses for every student, they are not linked to report cards or other forms of grading. This tool is used as a diagnostic measure to better assist us in our goal of ensuring that students at all levels of academic abilities are making proven progress and academic growth as they move through our district. In the future, data from this assessment will be shared with parents to provide an even better picture of your child’s progress. Surveys for the 2008-09 School YearMay 1, 2008
Yellow survey forms were sent home with every AGIS student this week. Please complete and return them by next Friday, May 9. Your prompt attention and cooperation is much appreciated.
Transportation for Next YearMay 1, 2008
Planning bus routes for the 2008-2009 school year will soon be underway. All students will be assigned to their home bus stop for the coming school year, and current day care arrangements will be deleted. A new transportation request form for alternate arrangements must be submitted each new school year.
If your child will be regularly using a bus stop different from your home bus stop next year, even if it is the same arrangement as this year, you must put it in writing. Transportation Request Forms are available on our AGIS website and in the office at your request. It is necessary to have the name, specific address, and telephone number of your day care provider, as well as a clear explanation of the request, especially if there will be day variants. Placement for the 2008-09 School YearMay 1, 2008
Student placement for the 08/09 school year will be determined using the following criteria:
Should you feel the need to communicate specific insights to the AGIS administration and next year’s teacher, please put these thoughts in writing. These insights can refer to a program, instructional grouping, organizational pattern, learning style, or social & emotional needs. Personal requests for specific teachers will not be honored. Address your letter to the principals and return it right away to AGIS. The deadline is Friday, May 16. |
