This story is about Pecos Bill’s adventures. Pecos Bill is the main character in this story.   The coyotes saved Bill when he threw out his fishing line a Texas trout pulled him out of the wagon and in the water. The coyote family took in Bill and taught him the ways of the wild.

One day a drifter named Chuck stumbled across Bill when he was napping.  “ Bill tried to explain to Chuck that he wasn’t a Texan he was a coyote.”  “Chuck said you’re a Texan just like me.”  Bill borrowed Chuck’s extra outfit and decided to give being a Texan a try.  But Bill’s plans were demolished when he was ambushed by a giant rattlesnake and a monster that was part grizzly, part puma, part gorilla, and part tarantula.  When Bill met up with the Gulch gang he asked, “Who is the boss of this gang?”  I mumbled, “Gun Smith, but now you are?”  Bill needed a horse during this big roundup and Chuck said, “There’s a wild stallion loose in the mountains some people call lightning, other people call widow-maker.  Widow means someone without a husband.  SO Bill went off to try to find Lightning.  Bill found Lightning and Bill chased him through the Grand Canyon and the Arctic Circle.  Finally , Bill cornered him and jumped on his back and Lightning flew  across three states.  Then Bill started to sing the language he learned from the coyote family and he sung his admiration for the white stallion’s strength and beautiful body.

When he met with the Gulch gang they were shocked and speechless because Bill caught Lightning. They were rounding up every steer in Texas. They used the technique that Bill had taught them to cattle rope. Bill was rounding up all the steers on to Pinacle Peak which was so enormous that the top remained winter and at the base it was summer. Bill and the gang forced all the cattle on the peak but it was to steep and they fell of. Bill fixed this by creating a new kind of cattle that had short legs on one side and long on the other. As long as they kept there short legs on they wouldn’t fall off. Bill and his gang were hanging out at the Perpetual Motion Ranch when Slewfoot Sue road by on a catfish Bill purposed of marriage. Sue agreed on 2 conditions Bill had to by her a wedding gown with a bustle and let her ride Lightning to the wedding. When wedding day came she had her dress and when her behind touched Lightning’s saddle she was blasted skyward in to space. She would be bouncing forever if Bill hadn’t lassoed her and Bill landed on his mom and dad’s wagon.

PECOS BILL

This Tall Tale is about Pecos Bill. He is strong and risky. When he was a baby, he got taken away from his boat by a trout. He would have drown if the coyotes hadn’t got him out of the water.

One day while he was-a-nappin, a guy named Chuck came along and said, `` You’re a Texan just like me!’’ Chuck is a long time Texan with a big hat. Chuck gave him his extra clothes and let him ride his horse. They wandered around a desert in Texas for a while. It was peace until a big snake came out of nowhere. Bill wrestled it until all the poison was out. Now, he uses it as a lasso. Since it was back in the pioneer times they only had horses. They could of zoomed by, but a giant monster attacked them!! He wrestled it until it was too weak to fight.

Right after he was done, Bill saw a gang and said, `` Who’s the boss of this here gang?’’ `` I was,’’ said Gun Smith, `` But you are now.’’ So, he went places with the Gulch Gang. When they were riding around Bill thought, `` I’m going to be a rancher!’’ They settled down at an old campsite. Some of the Gulch Gang started talking about lightning. It’s a white horse. Some folk call it Widow Maker. Bill said, `` I’ll get that horse for my own!’’

He went looking for Lightning. When he saw that horse he said, `` That’s the prettiest horse in the world!’’ He jumped on it! They fought through the Grand Canyon and the Arctic Circle.  Bill started to sing him a song. Lightning calmed down. Bill said`` you can go if you want.’’ But Lightning wanted to stay with him. Sometime after, they met up with the Gulch Gang. They had to heard the cows from state to state because in the Winter they would have to move the cows. In the Summer they would have to move the cows back. Bill saw this and thought, `` I could use this!’’ So, he named it Pinnacle Peak. When it was winter on the top it was summer on the bottom. But the cows were falling of the top of the peak. Bill made it so that on one side of the cows legs were short and the other ones were long. They could be steady. This gave the gang time to relax.

Then a Huge catfish came by and riding it was a girl named Sue. He knew she was the one. He asked her to marry him and she said yes!  But she wanted 2 things. A dress to wear to the wedding and to ride Lightning to the wedding. The dress was easy to find. But when Sue’s dress touched Lightning saddle, he bounced her up to Space. When Bill finally got her they landed right on Bill’s parents wagon! After all this time they were still looking for him. Bill and Sue got married and lived happily. (with Lightning!!)

Pecos Bill

This tall tale is about Pecos Bill. He could lasso any thing like a rattlesnake. He could even fight the roughest and toughest things in the world.

Way back when he was little Pecos got pulled over board from his family wagon by a raging trout! He would have drown if coyotes had not have gotten him by his overalls. Pecos soon grew out of his clothes and did not have any more clothes.

A few years later Pecos played with the bighorn sheep! One day he was napping by a rock and a real Texan came along and said, “ you’re a Texan just like me. Bill tried to explain that he was a coyote. They took a little bath together in a lake. The Texan Chuck got Bill some clothes and they went off. Later, Bill and Chuck came up to a huge rattlesnake.

Then Bill fought the snake, and the snake squeezed hard but Bill squeezed harder. Then Chuck told him about the Gulch Gang that they were very bad ranchers and they needed to be to taught how to ranch. The next day Bill got ambushed again by a part grizzly part puma, gorilla, and part tarantula! It was a thing that no one has ever lived through. Bill made the critter so dizzy it had to quit. Bill rode it, then met up with the Gulch Gang.

Bill taught them how to lasso a bull, but Bill did not have a real lasso he used the rattlesnake. Then the gang tried and did pretty good. After that they played with the longhorns instead of fighting with them.

That night the gang and Bill set around a camp fire and Bill said “, I need a horse. The gang suggested a horse named Lightning because it is really fast. It was also called  Widow – Maker.

The next day Bill set out to find Lightning. He chased her though the arctic circle, the Grand Canyon, and across three states! Finally, Bill sang to Lightning and said, you can be free or be with me. Lightning and the Gulch Gang had to round up 100`s and 1000`s of cattle across Texas! Then Bill came up with an idea, put all of the cattle on Pinnacle Peak but the cattle kept on fallen off the steep mountain. Bill later invented a pair of short legs and a pair of long legs on the cattle.

Then Bill and the Gang played by the river. Then out of nowhere, Slew- foot sue came along. Pecos was instantly in love and said I will marry you. Slew – foot – sue said on two conditions. I want a bussle. Now that was easy. However the second one was the hard one.

She said” let me ride Lighting to the wedding. When Slew – foot – sue got on lightning she got bucked all the way to space, over the moon and came back down! Bill then lassoed a twister and got her but they came down they landed on Bill`s mom and dad`s wagon

Pecos Bill

This tall tale is about Pecos Bill. He could lasso anything like a twister, horse, longhorns, and an animal that was part grizzly, part puma, part gorilla, and part tarantula.

When Bill was little he got pulled in the water by a Texas trout because Bill and his kinfolk were headed west and they crossed the Pecos River. Bill through a fishing line out and the trout pulled him in. Then a coyote saved Bill and the coyote` s family adopted him. They taught Bill the ways of the wild. Bill would play with the big horn sheep and howl at the moon.

One day a Texan named Chuck came along while Bill was napping. Chuck asked Bill what he was doing snoozing in the brush with no trousers. Bill tried explaining that he was a coyote. “Horse feathers!” Chuck said, “You’re a Texan just like me.” Bill decided to give life as a Texan a try. He borrowed some of Chuck `s extra clothes. Then Chuck told Bill about the Gulch Gang. Bill then ran into a snake. Bill squeezed all the venom out of the snake and he used it as a lasso. Suddenly a creature tackled Bill. It was part grizzly, part puma, part gorilla, and part tarantula. They wrestled till the monster became so dizzy it had to quit. Nobody messed with those two varmints and lived to tell the tale.

Later Bill ran into a longhorn. Bill then lassoed that longhorn. Then cattle roping had just been invented because of Bill. Bill made lassos for the cowboys. Then the cowboys were cattle roping the longhorns. It became a western rodeo.

Then Chuck told a story about horse named Lightning. Some people called him the Widow Maker. So Bill then went looking for Lightning. As soon as Bill found Lightning, Bill chased Lightning north to the Artic Circle…and down south to the Grand Canyon. Bill then got on Lightning ` s back and Lightning jumped across three states.  Bill sang to lightning and offered Lightning freedom. But Lightning went with Bill everywhere.

Then Bill and Lightning were leading the cowboys to Motion Ranch on Pinnacle Peak. When they got there a team of prairie dogs helped Bill build the fence. But the longhorns and the cowboys kept falling down on the fence. Bill changed that because he cut off one side the longhorns so they could hop up.

One day Bill saw a girl named Slew Foot Sue. Bill asked Sue to marry him. Sue agreed on two conditions: first,  Bill had to buy her a wedding dress with a bustle. Second,  Bill had to let her ride Lightning to the wedding. The second her bustle hit the saddle she was blasted high in the sky. She kept bouncing to the moon. Bill then lassoed a twister to help him get Sue. They landed on Bill ` s ma and pa ` s wagon. Bill was surprised his kinfolk were still looking for him. Then everyone went to Bill `s ranch for a family reunion. Today their descendants are still there, happily herding cattle.
