Chipmunks are small animals. Chipmunks live up to 2-3 years. This is because hawks love to eat them. Chipmunks are herbivores. That means they eat nuts and seeds. Their natural habitat is Asia, North America, or in a burrow underground. The only time they leave their burrow is to get food. The chipmunk is 8 inches long. Its colors are white, brown, and black. Chipmunks are wild animals.

The elk is a mammal.  Elks eat plants and shrubs.  They also eat small tiny plants. Elk live in forests. They can also live in woody areas.  Their antlers can grow up to 5 feet. They have at least 12 points on their antlers. The elk was found in Canada.  Elk can travel from high mountains to low valleys. Elks are cool to learn about.

Things about the Weasel

The Weasel is a carnivore because it eats mice, frogs, and other animals that might be bigger than them. The Weasel kills other animals by biting them in the back of the neck when they aren’t looking. The Weasel lives in cracks, logs, burrows, and abandoned animal homes. Some Weasels stay close to the water because they might see their prey. The Weasel can eat and kill an animal that is larger than it is. Baby Weasels follow their mothers into a warmer den because the cause of winter.  All Weasels have long bodies, long thick necks, rounded ears, and long whiskers. The Least Weasel is the smallest type of Weasel because it measures less than 24 cm [9]

Squirrels are interesting animals!

Squirrels are herbivores. They eat nuts, seeds, grass

Berries, and corn. Squirrels live in a nest made out of

twigs and grass. In England their nest is called a dray.

Squirrels can weigh about 20 pounds and are about

30 inches. Squirrels are good at climbing trees.

Their enemies are the bobcat, cat, dog, foxes , and coyotes.

Squirrels are AMAZING animals.

Owls are birds that can fly. They have dark colored feathers so they can blend in with their habitat. Owls eat small animals like mice and they also eat big animals like rabbits. Big animals owls tear apart to eat. Owls live in the woodlands or fields near forests. They live there because they can blend in with their habitat. Owls wings are over 4 feet wide or more. Also owls can camouflage so they can get their food . Owls have amazing eye site.

Eagles are birds. Eagles eat meat. They eat mice, fish, and snakes. When eagles eat meat it is called a carnivore. Eagles build their nests near water. The reason is because they can get to the fish a lot easier.  Eagles, weigh up to 7 to12 pounds and sometimes they are 20 pounds. Eagles' eggs are 3 inches long 2inches across. Eagles are thought to live up to 20 to 30 years some times 500 years or more.
Eagles are the best birds.

Hares are very pretty animals.

 The grouse is a big bird.

A grouse is an omnivore. It eats berries, insects, and grain.

 

The males are about 17 inches. The females grow to be the same size.

Ruffed grouse live from Alaska to Georgia.

The nests are on the ground. The eggs are buff colored with brown spots. Hens lay 9-14 eggs.

The ruffed grouse is Pennsylvania’s state bird.

MARTENS

Martens are like foxes.
They eat squirrels, birds, rabbits, and mice.
That makes them a carnivore.

They live on America’ s north east coast and all through Canada to Alaska. The Marten lives in a rocky place, and will live in a tree.

A Marten is 2 feet long and may weigh up to 3 pounds. A Marten has brown and grayish brown fur. Some have yellow fur too.

A female Marten will have 2 to 3 babies in its lifetime. Like a fox Martens do not lay eggs.
Marten are so cool.

Hawks are amusing birds. Hawks are carnivores that hunt animals. Hawks eat small birds, snakes, and rodents. Hawks live in forests. They live on the ground, in trees, on cliffs, and in bushes. The male hawk is 10-22 inches and the female hawk is 12 –26 inches. If it is disturbed it will whistle, scream, or chatter. It lays 2-6 eggs in a nest that is rough and not very soft. The eggs hatch after three or four weeks. Hawks have a really armed body.

Instead of diving a dabbling duck will tip bottom up and swim to the bottom of the lake or swamp or stream .It eats fish or plants.
