The Used Book Sale in November was a great success and raised $5,000.00
Sports Boosters would like to thank the generous book donors throughout the community and the many volunteers who worked countless hours collecting, sorting, pricing and selling over 16,500 items! Special thanks to Mary Ellen Edwards for providing us with space at "The Barn" for storage of the books. Thanks also to Cardile Brothers for donating 300 mushroom boxes for our books and to John McCutcheon for providing the transport of the 300+ boxes from the barn to the high school. Mr. Macaluso, owner of the Kennett Rare and Used Books, graciously offered his time and expertise to help us value many of our old books. Among our donated treasures, we discovered an 1859 first edition of Shirley. A Tale by Currer Bell (pen name for Charlotte Bronte). Sports Boosters has donated the book to Mr. Alexander and the Gifted Education Department so the book can be shared with the student body. The proceeds from the Book Sale enabled Sports Boosters to reinstate the Matching Funds program for the athletic teams.
