News from the Parents’ Association

This is the last newsletter to arrive before the Prom and After-Prom Party on June 6. Please encourage your students attending the prom to come to the After-Prom Party. It is great fun and keeps our kids safe. The After-Prom Party has door prizes, food and surprises. Seniors and Juniors not attending the prom are invited to attend the After-Prom party. It’s a great way to know what to expect next year.

Many thanks to the following families for their donations to this worthy cause: Brendle, White, Greenhalgh, Piaskowski, McQuaide, McCampbell, Annis, Welch, Danese, Dicarlo, Lloyd, Reid, Gallagher, Francis, Birmingham, McClain, Giunta, Hunt, Brodie, Dodson, Chappell, Behm, Kurman, Clarke, McNew, Byrd, Lysle, Ahdieh, Dykins, Cullen, Snyder, Trommelen, Jones, Nickle, Richardson, Poland, Marks, Camarota, Fleck, Layne, Trusko, Campbell, Cipollini, Gardner, Eckard, Urban and Roney families.

Please remember to support the following businesses who have generously supported our After Prom: Torellis Men Shop in Kennett Square, Linda’s Hair Techniques, Salon de Rocsi, Pepsi Cola, Brunswick Blue Hen Lanes in Newark, Giant, Emma Hallmark, Cinemark, MacDonalds in Jennersville and Mary McVeigh Flowers in Kemblesville. Mrs. McVeigh is donating 10% back to our school for any prom flowers ordered. Mention Avon Grove High School for the donation. D&S Entertainment is giving a substantial discount on music for our after Prom. D&S will give our students a discount rate of $100/hr for upcoming graduation or any other parties you may have this summer. They have been in business for 15 years and have entertained at our After-Prom the last four years. Contact them at 610/524-4225 or visit their website at www.DandSDJ.com <http://www.dandsdj.com/> to schedule your party. Once again, mention Avon Grove High School.

Our final meeting is May 13, at 7 pm in the high school cafeteria. Chairpersons from all the activities will give their updates on the planning progress. Interactives, games and the DJ have been ordered. We have volunteers to bring most of the food/drink. This is going to be a great After Prom, please encourage your juniors and seniors to attend. We continue to gather door prizes for the party. If you have an item or want to put together a gift basket that would be of interest to high school students, please call Diane Wollaston at 610-255-0737. The more prizes-the better!

We welcome anyone that wants to help decorate on June 6. We need many hands to complete this big job by 10:30 pm. I am requesting parents of juniors and sophomores to please help with decorating and chaperoning in order to know what to do next year when your students attend this event. Decorating will begin at 2:30 p.m. The majority of our workers come after work. For parents of students attending the prom, stop at AGHS after you see your kids off!

Chaperones are still needed. Please call Diane or e-mail at diwol@comcast.net <mailto:diwol@comcast.net> to volunteer. Our chaperones have almost as much fun as the kids and really, your kids will hardly know you are there (unless they want to find you).

A big thanks to Liz McDevitt for chairing the clean up committee. Liz still needs 3-4 more people with trucks to help her get items back into the shed (which is less than 10 minutes away from the school). You will meet at 8:00 am at AGHS on Saturday June 7. The decorations will be loaded in your truck and taken back to the shed. Once again, the more people that volunteer, the faster it gets done. Contact Liz at Liznchris@comcast.net.

Thank you to all who have donated their time and talent to the upcoming After Prom. This would not happen without all of your support!

Diane Wollaston
PTO President
