Career/Vo-Tech Counselor
|
Elaine Markowitz is the counselor for the letters A-Cort. She earned both her BA in criminal justice and M.Ed. in school counseling from University of Delaware and completed a Post-Masters Professional Counselor Licensure Preparation Program through West Chester University. Elaine is now a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of PA. Elaine has been at Avon Grove High School for eight years with a background as an investigator for the Division of Family Services in DE. Elaine has a warm, laid-back personality and describes her counseling style as person-centered and goal-oriented. In her spare time Elaine loves reading, going to the Jersey shore, and anything to do with hair, shoes or make-up. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and their two kids, whose pictures are plastered all over her office :)
Scott Searfoss is the counselor for the letters Han-Marv. He earned his BA in Communication and in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and his M.Ed. in Counseling and Educational Psychology from West Chester University. Prior to graduate school, Scott worked as a Production Assistant at Comcast SportsNet. Scott has a friendly and positive attitude that is contagious to people around him. Scott draws from various counseling philosophies to help students. Scott is an avid sports fan and participated as a percussionist in Region Band at Avon Grove High School in 1998.
Christine Rivera is the counselor for the letters Masc-Roll, and Foreign Exchange. She earned her B.S. in Sociology from the University of Maryland and her M.Ed. from Boston University. Christine enjoyed her career with the Department of Defense Schools working as a Social Worker and Counselor throughout the United States and Europe. She also served on active duty in the Air force. She has an energetic, fun-loving personality; her counseling style is based on mutual respect and cultural awareness. In her spare time Christine volunteers in community Literacy programs and Animal Rescue organizations.
Jennifer
Meyers is the guidance counselor for students with the last names
beginning Roma-Z. She earned her BA in Advertising from Penn State University
and her MS in Counseling and Human Relations from Villanova University.
Prior to working as a counselor, Jennifer was a sales assistant for KYW-TV3.
Jennifer enjoys being a guidance counselor because of the variety in her
daily schedule. She take great care to build rapport with students so
they can feel comfortable asking for help. In her spare time she likes
to knit, attend concerts, and go to the beach.
