FCA Meetings
May 9, 2008FCA has 2 regular meetings left and the Pickleball tournament is coming up on Thursday, May 29th. If you heard Tyler and Jenny sing last week, you may want to pick up a CD or t-shirt from Mrs. Ortega. She has them upstairs so please get them before the end on Next week! Tyler and Jenny did a wonderful job and everyone who heard them was blessed. They leave for Nashville this summer so get them while you can! We will be meeting this Tuesday morning at 6:15 a.m. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there!

Class Officer Elections for 2008-2009

Any student interested in running for a class office for the school year 2008-2009, please see your current class advisor. Freshmen- Mr. Atkinson, Room 208; Sophomores - Ms. McCusker, Room 710; Juniors - Mrs. K-B-V, Room 510. You can pick up your election packet containing information and petition forms in THESE rooms ONLY! The main office does not have these forms. The petition and your TYPED speech MUST be returned to your advisor by 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13th, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! If you have any further questions, please see your current Class Advisor.
FCCLA Field Trip

Eva Maria Flores Ayllon Wins First Place
May 6, 2008
Eva Maria Flores Ayllon, an 11th grade student who arrived from Mexico in August of 2007, earned the 1st place finish in the category of Web Page Design of the Chester County High School Technology Fair held at the Chester County Intermediate Unit. She was one of 20 regional winners in the category of Info Based Web Design who will compete at the State Fair to be held on Mayth 20th at Dickinson College.
Baccalaureate Scholarship For Seniors

The Avon Grove Ministerium is sponsoring the Baccalaureate Scholarship for Seniors who are active in a local church and plan on pursuing a degree in the human services field. If you qualify please pick up an application in the Guidance Office. Applications need to be returned to Guidance by May 13th, 2008 by 2:45.

AGSD-DCCC Concurrent Enrollment Information Night
May 5, 2008The Avon Grove School District (AGSD) has entered into a concurrent enrollment agreement with Delaware County Community College (DCCC) that allows eligible high school seniors to earn college credits while still attending high school.
To learn more about the concurrent enrollment opportunities available to eligible Avon Grove High School seniors, parents, guardians and students are invited to attend an information session scheduled Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. <More Info>
Summer Reading

Summer Reading lists will be distributed through AGHS English classes in late May. Each English level has its reading requirements for the summer. AP and Honors classes will be hearing from their teachers before leaving on summer break to discuss their requirements and assignments. As the students return in September, one of the first grades is a check on Summer Reading in their English classes!
MAP Testing Window - May 6th to May 20th
April 29, 2008 For your Information: All 9th and 10th grade students will begin taking the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessments during the testing window of May 6th to May 20th. MAP monitors academic progress of students. This information will be used for Study Island placement as well future course placement at AGHS.

You all received a DOUBLE SIDED pink form that is REQUIRED in order to receive your cap, gown, and graduation tickets! This form is due back to Mrs. Hunter in room 405 by May 16th, but PLEASE hand it in early! If you did not receive, or you lost this form, you MUST get another copy from Mrs. Hunter as soon as possible!!! Any questions stop by room 405. The form must be returned to room 405, look for the PINK sign that says “SENIORS” and follow directions!
Attention All Girls Interested in Playing Field Hockey in the AG Spring Tournament on Saturday, May 31st

Four All-Stars to Play in 10th Annual Valor Bowl

Avon Grove High School student-athletes Lewis Espositio, Nicholas Clark, Eddie Maloney, and Kevin Price have been named to the 2008 South All-Star Team that will play in the 10th Annual Valor Bowl, scheduled Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Downingtown Area School District's Kottmeyer Stadium. Proceeds will benefit the Chester County Special Olympics.
Liv ~ Live Concert

Liv ~ Live - a concert to raise awareness about teen depression and suicide prevention, sponsored by the Chester County Youth Suicide Prevention Task Force. The event will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Garage in Kennett Square. Please see Mrs. Martelli today for more details.
