2015-2016 School Calendar Survey
At the Jan. 22 School Board meeting, Superintendent Christopher Marchese presented two options for the 2015-2016 school year calendar to the Board of School Directors. Both Option 1 and Option 2 were created following Avon Grove's Universal Calendar Policy. The only difference in the two calendars is when the district would use cancellation makeup days.

El lunes, 26 de enero, de 6:30 a 8:00 de la tarde, habrá una Noche familiar Latina en la escuela elemental de Penn London para todos los padres hispano hablantes con hijos que asisten al distrito escolar de Avon Grove a partir de kínder hasta el 12 grado.

Seven FSEMS Students Selected for String Fest
Seven Fred S. Engle Middle School orchestra students were selected to participate in the 2015 PMEA District 12 7/8 String Fest scheduled March 5 at E.T. Richardson Middle School in Springfield, Delaware County. FSEMS string students auditioned in early December for this honors ensemble. Congratulations to Kylie Barkley (violin), Siobhan Hull, (viola), Sahana Sundar (violin), Chelsea Kneedler (viola), Gabrielle Farina (cello), Sarah Renz (cello), and Lucas Ramsey (cello). 
AG Students and Staff Volunteer for MLK Day of Service
All four Avon Grove School District schools participated in the MLK CommUNITY Food Drive Jan. 6-16, along with schools in Kennett Consolidated and Unionville school districts. In addition to helping in our local community, Avon Grove students and staff also volunteered in other areas. 
Four AGHS Students Selected for District Orchestra
Four Avon Grove High School orchestra students were selected to participate in the 2015 PMEA District 12 Orchestra Festival scheduled Feb. 5-7 at Great Valley High School. High school students from Chester, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties auditioned on Nov. 22 at Bayard Rustin High School for placement in this honors ensemble. Congratulations to Avon Grove's Matthew McCutchen (trombone), Joshua Brown (tuba), Nathan Kozel (bass), and Thomas Wehrle (tuba).  
Six FSEMS Students Selected for Chorus Fest
The PMEA District 12 Middle School Chorus Fest consists of the top six students from each of the school districts in Chester, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties. Students were asked to learn and memorize the Chorus Fest music using practice CDs and after-school help from Ms. D'Onofrio. The eighth-graders from Engle who were chosen by audition will be conducted by Dr. Rolo Dilworth. Congratulations to Lindsay Felker (Soprano I), Nicolena Govatos (Alto I), Katherine Nardi (Alto II), Tessa Quinn (Alto I), Julianne Weiler (Soprano II), and Eliza Wright (Soprano I).The festival is scheduled March 17 at Unionville High School. 
New Requirements for School Volunteers
Pennsylvania has adopted new reporting requirements for school volunteers, some of which took effect on January 1, 2015. Volunteers must now self-report certain types of arrests and/or convictions. Volunteers also are now obligated by state law to report suspected child abuse.  
Period Attendance Pilot: AGHS & FSEMS
A pilot program indicating period attendance for selected secondary students is in process.
