District Art Show May 20 & 21
Avon Grove School District's 5th Annual Art Show is scheduled May 20-21.  Opening Night special events on Monday, May 20, include drawing, painting and ceramic demonstrations and making a collaborative insect-themed painting. Hundreds of student artworks will be displayed.    
Board to Consider Final Budget June 13
The Board of School Directors approved the 2013-2014 Preliminary General Fund Budget on May 7 with a proposed zero percent increase in the real estate tax rate. The Board is scheduled to consider adoption of the final budget on June 13.  
School Board Update on Superintendent Search
The Avon Grove School District Board of School Directors has provided an update on the search for a new superintendent. The update includes a schedule of focus groups being held to get input from a variety of constituent groups on what they consider important qualities for a new school leader.  
Community Invited to Provide Input on Superintendent Search
The Avon Grove School District Board of School Directors has begun the process to select a superintendent of schools to replace Dr. Augustus J. Massaro, who is retiring effective October 31, 2013. Community members-at-large are invited to attend a focus group May 13 or May 22.  
AGHS Senior Wins Feature-Writing Award
Avon Grove High School senior Bekah Curran won first place for best feature story in Penn State Brandwyine's Pride in Print contest held recently. Curran was honored for her article "Klesius: superstitions to scholarship," which was published in the October 2012 issue of The Devil's Herald.  
AGHS Color Guard and Percussion Finalists in Championships
The Avon Grove High School Indoor Color Guard and Percussion were finalists in the All Chapter Championship held in Wildwood, NJ, on May 4-5. Senior Sarah Celona wins scholarship.  
School Board Approves New Volunteer Requirements
The Avon Grove Board of School Directors approved revisions to Board Policy No. 916 which outlines requirements for school volunteers. Parents and community members interested in volunteering or continuing to volunteer are encouraged to review the updated policy.
