Kindergarten Registration Appointments Now Being Scheduled
Parents and guardians who have a child entering Avon Grove's kindergarten program this upcoming school year are advised to schedule a registration and screening appointment as soon as possible. Appointments will be scheduled online and registration and screening will be done at Penn London Elementary School May 5 through May 9. More detailed instructions are outlined in this announcement. 
AG Hosts TIA Chapter 3 Championships Saturday
The Avon Grove High School Indoor Guard and Percussion is scheduled to host the TIA Chapter 3 Championships at the high school gymnasium on Saturday, April 26, starting at noon. Avon Grove will host close to 50 indoor guard, dance and percussion units from the eastern Pennsylvania area, and the event will feature Avon Grove's Gold and Maroon Color Guards and Percussion Ensemble. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens/college students (with ID), and $7 for K-12 students. Come out to support our AG ensembles in this regional championship competition. 
Stearn Wins News Study Scholarship
KYW Newsradio awarded the Richard Monetti Scholarship to Alicia Stearn, a senior at Avon Grove High School. 
Peck Named AG's Heart of Learning Award Finalist
Kellie Peck, an emotional support teacher in the special education department at Avon Grove High School, was named the 2014 Citadel Heart of Learning award finalist for the school district. 
6th Grade Students Donate Money to Cancer Patients
Alexis Everett, Maddie Anderson, and Emily Welcher, 6th grade- Team Fiji AGIS students, raised over $240 at Country Christmas this school year. The friends all worked together to raise money to donate to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Christiana, DE. 
Engle Student Earns First Place in Science Fair
Engle Middle student Ian Clark earned first place in the Chester County Science Fair for his project "It's Just a Flesh Wound." 
Engle Students Recognized for Anti-Tobacco Essays
Three students from Engle Middle School were recently recognized by the Chester County Tobacco-Free Coalition and the Chester County Health Department for essays they wrote for the 7th annual "Kick Butts Day" youth contest.

AG Embarks on New Strategic Planning Process
The Avon Grove School District will embark on a dynamic new strategic planning process that is designed to set a new standard for the District in seeking input from all stakeholders through surveys, interviews, and public meetings. 
AG Secures Safe Schools Grant
The Avon Grove School District has been awarded the Safe Schools Initiative Targeted Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Office for Safe Schools for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 in the sum of $25,000. The funds will be used for materials and training to support the implementation of schoolwide bullying prevention programs at Penn London Elementary School and Avon Grove Intermediate School. Dr. Margie Sharp, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, wrote the successful grant application.  
2013-2014 School Calendar Updates
This notification includes important information regarding the 2013-2014 school calendar, including modifications to the snow cancellation make-up day schedule and the early dismissal schedule before Spring Break. 
Board Approves 2014-2015 School Calendar
At the Feb. 18 Board meeting, the Avon Grove School District Board of School Directors approved a waiver to the universal calendar policy and approved Option 2 as the 2014-2015 school calendar.  The approved calendar calls for starting school on Aug. 25 and ending on June 8.
